Alert message sent 27/01/2012 17:15:00
Information sent on behalf of Nottinghamshire Police

Hi,

I thought I'd just send out a message today regarding information that we have received from members of the public over the last couple of days and how we use it.

Wednesday 25/01/2012 at around 12:30pm an anonymous  member of the public spotted 2 young males picking up a plasma style television out of a bush on the public footpath at the rear of Arnott Hill Park, the member of the public thought that this was suspicious and called us via 999.

The males were seen to be heading towards Aylesham Avenue, Officers were then despatched to the scene and arrived in just over 2minutes of been informed.
A full area search was conducted with several officers including a dog handler, however no persons matching the description given were found within the area.

30minutes later a resident from Fisher Avenue in Woodthorpe called to say that they had just been burgled & goods including two televisions had been stolen.

SOCO/Scenes of Crimes Officers attended the burgled property to identify if any forensic evidence was available & local officers including PCSO's conducted full house to house enquiries within the area and also checked for available CCTV.

Enquiries regarding the burglary and also the description from the member of the public are ongoing & extra patrols will be occurring around the footpath at the rear of Arnott Hill to identify any further suspicious activity & Gedling CCTV have also been informed as they do have substantial CCTV coverage within the Arnot Park area.

Thursday 26/01/2012

A vigilant member of the public called via Non Emergency Police Number 101  to say that they believed a device had been attached to the cash machine at Santander Bank on Front Street Arnold, an officer was despatched to investigate , however when they arrived no devices were found on or near to the machine or any other cash machines on the High Street, Santander were informed of the information and they have arranged for an engineer to check their machine to ensure that it hasn’t been tampered with.

Also on Thursday, An anonymous member of the public called via the Non Emergency Police Number 101 to say that they had just witnessed 3 young males appearing to hide a Moped at the rear of some garages near to Finsbury Road Rise Park.
Myself and a colleague were despatched and after an area search we recovered a 59reg Moped, We then carried out Police National Computer checks on our Blackberry's & identified that it had been stolen less than 24 hours earlier from the Bestwood area.

We then arranged for the Moped to be recovered where it would also be forensically examined & the relieved keeper of the vehicle was informed that we had found it,
Myself and my colleagues then conducted full house to house enquiries within the area to identify if anyone had heard or seen anything.

These are just a couple of examples of how members of member of the public had contacted us, either via 999, or the non emergency number 101,on two of the above incidents the callers also chose to remain anonymous.

If you do see or hear any suspicious activity please don't hesitate to call us, either via 999 or for Non emergency call 101, the information that you have may be the piece of the puzzle that we need.

We also receive information from Crimestoppers which can be contacted via 0800 555 111 or via Crimestoppers which is an independent charity & is anonymous & any information relating to any criminal activity can be passed to them, the information can range from Regular Drink Drivers to Drug Grows/Dealers & we act on the information received from the charity.

I’m going to be working until 01:00hours Saturday morning and will be focusing on reducing ASB in and around the Arnold Town Centre along with my Beat manager colleagues.

Some of my other colleagues are going to be focusing on Autocrime patrols around the various beat areas to deter any would be car thief’s from the areas, please remember to lock your cars and set your alarms and take sat navs etc out of the vehicles when you leave them.

And some of my other colleagues are focusing on Anti Burglary Patrols and will also be carrying out Bail Checks.

Also tonight we  have several members of the Special Constabulary, who freely give up their spare time and volunteer to work within the areas to deter and detect criminals.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, I’ll be sending out some information next week relating to ASB (Anti Social Behaviour) and how we utilise our powers to reduce it within our areas.
