Read a review about Neighbourhood Alert in the Lenton Abbey
(From the Nottingham Evening Post)
AN alert system which enables residents to report incidents as well as access information about crime in their area is being launched in Lenton Abbey.
The launch follows the success of Neighbourhood Alert in the Park estate, which has 280 members since it was started last September.
Police also acted upon 77 pieces of intelligence submitted by residents within the first seven months.
The launch in Lenton Abbey follows a week of action in the area where community payback offenders worked to improve a derelict piece of land in Wensor Avenue.
Insp Andy Baguley, neighbourhood policing inspector for the area, said: "The information we receive through the Neighbourhood Alert system enables us to allocate our neighbourhood policing team effectively, to send alert messages to residents requesting their assistance with specific issues and to provide updates on matters or incidents that have previously been raised."
People who sign up to the scheme can get updates by voice or text message as well as e-mail and can review crime statistics.
